Sara received funding for the two-year research project SoulMate, together with Prof. Dr Ilona Nord, Prof. Dr Jörn Hurtienne, and Dr Jens Palkowitsch-Kühl. Supported by a talented young scientist, Nathalie Papenfuß, the team will explore how companion technologies such as AI-supported chatbots or robots can support young adults in their religiosity and in dealing with existential questions. In the first step, the aim is to identify specific needs in dialogue with young adults. Based on these insights, an exemplary companion technology will be developed and evaluated in real-world settings.
This research is funded by the Digital Innovation Fund of the Protestant Church in Germany (EKD).
