Out of more than 2300 applications, Erik has been selected as one of 37 outstanding PhD students to be funded within the Meta Research PhD Fellowship program. This prestigious achievement was granted to only six participants from outside the US so far. Erik received the “AR/VR Future Technologies” fellowship supporting his doctoral dissertation, which investigates individual-, application-, and system-related factors influencing the perception of embodied avatars in AR/VR. The Meta PhD Research Fellowship program supports first-class PhD students conducting cutting-edge research in emerging computer science and engineering topics. These include AI system hardware/software co-design, blockchain and cryptoeconomics, human-computer interaction, programming languages, and AR/VR future technologies.
